Fellow HCHS graduate wins Tony!
Cynthia Nixon, Hunter College High School '84 won the Tony award last night for Best Female Lead in a Play for "rabbit Hole".

She has a lengthy resume in the movies, TV and theater, most notably for being Miranda on "Sex and the City". Way to go, Cynthia!

Hey, thanks for creating this community!

I'm a 1987 graduate, which gets further in the past every year. I'm on LJ under mabfan, obviously, and I have my own webpage at http://www.mabfan.com.

Now how do we start publicizing this place? Perhaps a letter in AlumNotes?

Reunion coming up, June 5th

Thought this community could use some activity. :-) Anyway, folks, for those interested, reunion's coming up on June 5th, Sunday. I'm too lazy to write a message so I'll just copy from an e-mail I received. :)

* Our annual Reunion will take place on Sunday, June 5th at the high school, 94th St. & Park Ave., beginning at 9:30 a.m. You can pre-register using the back page of AlumNotes or print out a registration form from our website, www.hchsaa.org  Milestone classes celebrating this year include the class of 2000, 1995, 1990 etc.(backward in multiples of 5 years). If you're a member of one of those classes and you don't know what your class is planning, please check the Reunions page of our website: http://hchsaa.org/reunions.htm or contact our office via email to hchsalums@yahoo.com  Don't forget, too, to consider paying your yearly dues and/or making a contribution to your milestone class gift to the high school. In recent years, we've seen a big increase in class gift contributions - in fact, this year's 20-year class is trying to match a $15,000 challenge grant from two classmates for a total contribution of $30,000, and three of last year's milestone c! lasses last year topped $13,000, with the 50-year class contributing $50,000! These gifts to the high school are really appreciated by the students and faculty and are used to fund technology ( e.g. computer lab equipment), music and art programs, the library, and extra resources for all departments (e.g. special book collections, DVDs, TV/VCR/DVD "smart carts" etc.). Dues and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and are eligible for matching gifts from employers in many cases.

Also, on June 3rd, there's a Young Alumni event (again, just a copy from an email):

Please make plans to attend the HCHS Alumnae/i Assn. Young Alums event on Friday, June 3rd, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Tonic The Met Lounge (in Times Square, 727 Seventh Ave., btw. 48th & 49th Sts., 212-382-1059, http://www.thetonicbar.com/). We've reserved the entire 3rd floor mezzanine and we'll be serving light appetizers with a cash bar. The last time we organized an event like this, over 100 alums attended, so be sure not to miss this one!

Special note to class of ‘95 members: Your classmate Charles Choi has asked us to remind you that your milestone class event will be held the same night beginning at 8 p.m. at Lemon, 230 Park Ave. South (between 18th and 19th), 212-614-1200, lemonnyc.com.  If you have a lot of stamina (which you should, at your ages), maybe you'll hit both events!

Note to all: Please let us know if you think you'll be attending by emailing event organizer Kari CHIN Chachkes ‘87 (who'd especially like to hear from her Little Sibs) at: kchachkes@mestel.com  We'd also appreciate it if you would forward this message to any classmates with whom you're in touch, as they may not be on our email distribution list.

Hope to see you all on the 3rd!

Proving that Hunter isn't just for liberal arts folks
David Bauer of HCHS has won the Intel Science Talent Search. The last (and perhaps only other) time someone from Hunter won was in 1997. Adam Cohen took home the top prize when it as still called Westinghouse.

C'Mon You Guys are Out There
I'm a Hunter College High School alum from Class of '99. I noticed that there isn't any LJ community for us Hunter alumni, so I thought, rather than just wait for a miracle to fall out of the sky, why don't I just *create* a community?

But now that I've created the community, I don't really have any set direction for it. It's up to you, whoever joins it, to shape the direction of the community. :)
